Tika, Pono, Aroha

We have been learning how Jesus respected the tapu (sacredness) of people.
One day when Jesus was going back to Galilee, he met a Samaritan woman at a well. He asked her for some water but he wasn't meant to talk to her because she was a Samaritan and he was Jewish and Jewish people hated Samaritans at that time.
Another story we read about how Jesus treated people was when he healed a man with leprosy, which is a skin disease with lots of sores and is very contagious. Jesus spoke to him and spent time with him before he healed him.
This shows that Jesus showed love (aroha) and compassion to people who were not accepted by others because of their looks and identity.
I learn from these stories that I must respect the tapu of others even though they are not like me because God loves everyone the same amount and we are born in the image of God.
